Surfing
The GSLC SURF program has been running since 2014. We split the students into 2 groups consisting of Junior surfing (Yrs 4-5) and Senior surfing (Yrs 6-12).
We run a surfing morning once a week (weather and forecast permitting) where students can hang out with their mates and surf in a fun, non-competitive environment. Incorporated within the program, we have been running international surf trips including previous trips to Samoa and Sumatra. Currently International trips are on hold due to Covid-19 however we are exploring alternative options within Australia.
The Senior program is run by GSLC staff Stephen Hann, Jim Tomkins and Paul Stacey. and the Junior program is run by Jim Tomkins and James Bourne.
Stephen, Jim and Paul hold ASI accredited surfing Instructor level 1 certificates, whilst all of our teachers are current with first aid and QLD SLS board rescue certifications.
The College provides morning surfing sessions where students can spend time with their friends and surf in a fun, non-competitive environment.
